Job Summary

The General Foreman is responsible for leading installation of PV modules, bolting, and connecting solar panels to existing mechanical assemblies. Additionally, this person will offer feedback during and at completion of job. Their key duty is leading installation but will also assist in on-the-job training. Uses skills developed to work safely, efficiently, and correctly.

Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Uses plan sets to determine proper locations, sizes, and installation of all module installation. Either Landscape or Portrait Module orientation the foreman will discuss all attributes of each install with site superintendent or project manager. Foreman will also receive verbal instructions regarding the same and different matters as they relate to the project.

  2. Knowledge of installing Bifacial, Mono or Poly Modules and ability to read shop and or manufacturers installation criteria.

  3. Strategizes installation numbers, install times, production.

  4. Leads all solar installers in layout, construction, and assembly of module installation.

  5. All work is to be in accordance with building code as well as local and state building codes. All work must be performed in a safe manner and meet any OSHA or other safety regulations.

  6. Other duties as directed

The General Foreman reports to the site superintendent/project manager, while working alongside solar installers, to meet and exceed goals.

Qualifications

Basic skills and knowledge of construction; Min. 4 years’ experience in a related field.

  2. Must be a leader and have shown dependability as well as support for company policies

  3. Able to take and follow instructions and/or direction from plans and supervisors.

  4. Ability to read and interpret plans accurately. Ability to transfer plans into actual construction.

  5. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be a self-motivator and team participant.

Education And Experience

Required:

  1. Valid Driver's License

  2. Proof of Citizenship

  3. OSHA 30

Physical Demands

  1. Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers.

  2. Ability to work outside in hot and cool weather.

  3. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to read plans/documents.

  4. Heavy lifting of 50-60 pounds is required. Exertion of up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally may be required.

  5. Good manual dexterity for the use of common mechanical tools.

The General Foreman job is performed mostly outdoors and on the construction site, but may include some indoor work. Activities include extended periods of standing, kneeling, and lifting. Must be able to access rooftops, including stairs, ladders, and lifts. Work environment may change from day to day depending on projects and tasks being accomplished. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required including hardhat, gloves, safety glasses, and foot protection. May be required to travel and/or work out-of-town for extended periods of time.
